This category includes products that have little or no impact on emissions, such as drop-in air filters or exhaust components downstream of the last emissions component (such as the catalytic converter, DPF or exhaust gas sensors). Also included are devices that plug into the OBD port to monitor information, but do not alter the vehicle?s electronics.

It is the responsibility of the product manufacturer to determine the appropriate category for each product, including validation via testing when appropriate. SEMA is available to assist with making the correct determination via the SEMA Garage testing, analysis and consultation.

It is also recommended that the labeling system be utilized to educate distributors and consumers by including information on websites and as printed material to be included with the product. The Voluntary Product Labeling Program is also supported through the SEMA Data electronic cataloging system.
