Reproduction 141-Tooth automatic transmission flexplate for 1974-79 Mustang II and Mustang models. The flexplate connects the engine to the transmission and allows for the expansion of the torques converter under load. It also provides a ring gear for the starter to engage. With all that flexing and torqing loads flexplates do wear out over time. A worn flexplate can cause excessive vibration in the drivetrain and poor starter engagement. ths can eventually caus damage to the engine or the starter. Worn or broken flexplates need to be replaced with a high-quality steel replacemnt balanced and fit to the factory specifications like this one.
